Canon PIXMA MX300 Printer Review

The Pixma MX300 is Canon's entry-level, office-oriented all-in-one inkjet offering. At AU$179, we didn't anticipate much regarding efficiency, but we were happily surprised: while it had not been the fastest all-in-one we've evaluated, it made for it with top-quality prints and checks. It is not network-ready, so if you are in a multiperson workplace, there are better options than this, and it does not have an automated document feeder (ADF), which means set checks, duplicates, and faxes will be laborious. If you need an ADF, look at the Lexmark X5470; if you must have a network-ready all-in-one, the Lexmark X4550 fits the expense. Both Lexmark units will also obtain you much faster print rates (other than with photos), but the Canon MX300 defeats the trousers of both regarding print quality.

Design

The Canon Pixma MX300 is instead large for an affordable all-in-one. It rests 465mm wide, 440mm deep, and 174mm high but evaluates a light 7kg. The light-grey-and-black unit does not have an automated document feeder, which is unusual for office-oriented multifunctions but not unexpected, provided its low cost. It is just one of Canon's workplace all-in-ones that do not offer an ADF. The scanner cover hides an A4 dimension scanner; without an ADF, A4 is the most significant dimension initial you can scan. This printer does not have sd card ports but does offer a PictBridge-enabled USB port for PictBridge-compliant video cams, camcorders, and video cam phones.

The paper handling is straightforward and straightforward. A paper input support unravels from the top-rear side of the printer and stands up to 100 sheets of ordinary paper. A flap folds out of the printer's front panel to function as the output tray.

The control board is clean and straightforward. A two-line text LCD is the center point of the control board, but it is not backlit, which means it is hard to read in reduced light. 3 job switches let you switch between copy, fax, and scan jobs. A menu switch and menu navigating switches let you peruse your options. 2 buttons are dedicated to changing copy setups and fax quality. An alphanumeric keypad and begin and quit/reset buttons complete the panel.

The Pixma MX300 uses a two-tank ink system: one black and one-tricolor cartridge, and Canon offers 3 dimension options for each storage container.
